The soles are cracked and weathered
The heels are worn right through
Time has washed the white to gray
The tongue's are tearing in two
I wouldn't trade them, never replace them, I never could
They look so old and ragged
But feel so good right to my heart
I can't walk very far in them
I’m afraid they'll fall apart
They need protection, their imperfections, need to be safe
Now I tread lightly, make no big advances
I tiptoe around in my comfortable shoes
No need for me to take too many chances

I used to lace up all the new styles

But I just ended up with blisters
